  • ASK®-CI: Dry Break Coupling for NATO STANAG 3756

The ASK®-CI Dry Break offers spill-free, safe and environmentally friendly connection for transporting liquid and gaseous media in suction or pressure lines. It provides for quick coupling and uncoupling of filled and/or pressurized hoses and pipes. The ASK®-CI is compatible with other couplings which are in accordance with STANAG 3756, which allows its worldwide use in conjunction with products from other manufacturers and suppliers.

How does the ASK®-CI from ARTA work?

Coupling and uncoupling the ASK®-CI Dry Break is quick and easy.

For coupling connection, place the female coupler atop the male adaptor and make a single, continuous turn. The coupling will seal, after which its valves will open. This keeps the material being transported safely in the transfer line, with no spillage.

The disconnection procedure of the ASK®-CI is simply reversed. The valves in the two halves of the coupling close automatically, preventing any loss of transported media. The male side normally stays on the system, with its valve remaining securely closed until the next coupling process.

What advantages does the ARTA ASK®-CI offer?

      Spillfree & safe

ASK®-CI Couplings provide spill-free connections and disconnections which do not expose operators or the environment to any of the transported material.

      Fast loading processes

You can also uncouple the ASK®-CI with a line which is still filled with transported media, which makes for a much faster loading process. The easy coupling operation also reduces the time required to make a connection. This is substantially enhanced by the ergonomically optimized hand wheel, providing a simple operation, in comparison with a conventional grab handle.

      Maximum flow

The flow-optimized design of the ASK®-CI was created using the finite element method (FEM), and then validating through flow tests. This minimizes pressure loss and maximizes the delivery flow of our Dry Break Coupling.

      Integrated swivel joint

The integrated swivel joint on the female side of the Dry Break minimizes mechanical stress and prevents torque pressure in the pipe. Also, the swivel joint provides a continuously smooth rotation over time, due to the Dry Break’s intelligent design. For this reason, the ASK®-CI requires very little maintenance.

Greater safety with the ARTA pin

The ARTA pin provides an additional safety measure: Located on the female side of the Dry Break, it engages the male adaptor to prevent any unintentional disconnection of the coupling.

      Error-free coupling using mechanical lockout

We offer the option of a mechanical lockout for ARTA Dry Break couplings. This avoids accidental coupling with a connector carrying a different substance than that intended, thereby averting combining the transported products in error.

Fully verified by international certification entities

The ASK®-CI is a globally approved safety coupling that has been certified by recognized international approval entities. Consequently, no safety-related reservations exist surrounding its use.

For which areas of application was the ASK®-CI developed?

The ASK®-CI Dry Break coupling from ARTA is used on suction and discharge lines for liquid and gaseous products for both hose lines and pipe loading systems. Therefore, it is ideally suited for tank vehicles, rail tank cars, loading stations or hose dispenser stations, among other applications. NATO units have been using the ASK®-CI successfully for more than 50 years.

Ideally, the ASK-CI should be combined with one of our NTS emergency disconnect safety systems.
